What to Expect

Once a year, you should take your pet in for a check-up. This will include a full physical exam, and may include teeth and gum cleaning if needed. Dr. Danny R. Henry, Dr. Graham N. DiPinto or Dr. Hope Lucas will check the health of your pet from head to tail. This includes and in-depth look into your pet's oral, nasal, ocular, cardiovascular, lymph, orthopedic and neurologic systems.

Bring in any medical history you have of your pet when you come to our vet clinic. It's best to keep a journal of your pet's health throughout his or her life, including behavioral shifts. If you have something like this, share it with our team. If not, let us know everything that you think will be important. Drs. Henry, DiPinto, or Lucas can still work with whatever information you have. We ask that you arrive at least 1 hour PRIOR to our closing times to better assist all clients in a timely manner. In cases of high volume times, we may choose a "cut-off" time to cease seeing patients due to case overload. In the event this happens, we encourage people to please be patient and seek care at one of our partnering emergency (see list below) hospitals that see patients 24 hours a day.

In some circumstances, Drs. Henry, DiPinto, or Lucas will refer you to a specialist who has advanced expertise and residency training in areas such as internal medicine, radiology, cardiology, critical care, neurology, ophthalmology, or surgery. We often refer to either Eastern Carolina Veterinary Referral in Wilmington, NC or BluePearl Speciality and Pet Emergency Hospital (formerly VSH Cary) in Cary, NC for our most serious of cases. Both hospitals offer excellent and compassionate speciality care.
